Medical Imaging Equipment Level 3

This course covers introductions to, Principles of and Practical Equipment aspects of the following: Diagnostic X-rays and X-ray processing.

Who Should Attend:

The course provides an excellent grounding for medical engineering staff involved with the servicing and maintenance of medical imaging equipment.

Pre-requisites:

It would be advantageous for learners to have a sound knowledge of Electronic Engineering or qualifications in a related engineering role. The minimum age for entry onto the course is 19 years old.

Course Aim:

To provide learners with the basic knowledge and practical experience needed in order to be able to carry out inspection, servicing and repairs across a variety of Medical Imaging type equipment in accordance with MHRA guidance, IEC Standards, relevant manufacturers’ information and the National Occupational Standard for Servicing Medical Imaging Equipment.

Course Objectives:

On conclusion of the course the learners will be able to:

  • Describe and explain the principles of x-rays and diagnostic ultrasound.
  • List and explain the safe working practices associated with Medical Imaging equipment.
  • Describe and explain the techniques used in basic x-ray generator and x-ray tube.
  • Describe the engineering and functional operation of medical imaging equipment.
  • Carry out inspection, testing, fault finding and servicing of medical imaging in accordance with the relevant legislation, standards and manufacturers’ information.

Accreditation:

On successful completion of the course learners will gain an Open College Network West Midlands Level 3 award in Servicing Medical Imaging Equipment.

What Next?

Learners should consider enrolling on one of our 3-day equipment specific programmes to provide further focus on particular medical equipment.

Learners should also consider enrolling on the Level 5 Diploma in Medical Equipment Technologies.

  2. When you have received your Course Application Form please follow these steps:

    Fill in ALL sections of the form – these need to be completed in full to process your application and register you on the course.

    1. Please add all course costs including accommodation if requested.

    2. Booking forms must be filled in for all courses per person, even if several require spaces for the same course.

    3. When your application form is complete and has been authorised by your employer/provider please return either by email or post to: training@avensysmedical.co.uk

    4. As per application form instructions, please send your purchase order to Avensys UK Training Ltd within seven days of receipt of your application form. Please use code TR when raising a purchase order followed by your order number e.g. TR123456. This then needs to be sent by post to the address above and/or emailed to accounts@avensysmedical.co.uk and copy in training@avensysmedical.co.uk

    5. Once your purchase order is received the course booking processes (catering, hotel, course documents etc.) will commence. Our accounts department will then issue an invoice for your purchase order.

    6. Payment for courses needs to be received two weeks before the course start date to confirm hotel accommodation, catering and course placement. Entry to the course will not be permitted on the course unless payment is received within the Terms & Conditions.

  3. Course Start and Finish Times
    The course starts at 9 am sharp and candidates generally arrive 10-15 mins beforehand for refreshments and registration. The course days typically finish at 5.00pm.

    Essentials for Arrival
    – Please bring with you a form of photographic ID, this is for registration and verification procedures for the awarding body.

    – You will need to sign in upon arrival with the Training Centre Coordinator.

    – You will also be asked to sign against your authorisation to take photographs for training purposes. The information is detailed in the pack you receive upon arrival.

    Lunch Arrangements
    Lunch will be provided on site at the Training Academy. There are refreshment facilities in the dining area; these are all included in the course cost. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements.

    Mobile Phones
    For the duration of the lessons, mobile phones should remain switched off; they can be used during break times only.

    Smoking
    A no-smoking policy is operated inside all Avensys UK Training Ltd and Avensys UK Ltd premises, however, there are areas outside where learners are permitted to smoke during breaks.

    Dress Code
    There is no formal dress code – shoes and clothing should be suitable and appropriate for a classroom and practical environment.

    Accessibility
    You will be required to move throughout the building, including up and down stairs. Please let us know if this will be a problem for you.

    Car Parking

    Free car parking is available on-site at the Institute of Technology car park.

    Our dedicated modern training facility for engineering technicians, clinicians and nursing staff, has up to date equipment and is centrally located in the Midlands within easy access to motorways and all network links.

    Free car parking is available on-site at the Institute of Technology car park.

    We’re approximately 25 miles (35-minute drive) from Birmingham airport.

    By rail

    We’re approximately 2-miles (7-minute taxi ride or 35-minute walk) from Dudley Port train station.

    Apprenticeships
    The Avensys Apprenticeship courses are the perfect start to a career in Clinical Engineering and career progression.They provide opportunities for those already working in the industry to gain formal qualifications for roles they currently hold, adapting existing skills and knowledge to develop new skills.

    We offer the Level 2 Healthcare Science Apprenticeship, Level 3 Medical Engineering Apprenticeship and the Level 4 Healthcare Science Apprenticeship. All courses have been designed and written especially for the Medical Engineering Industry, ranging in duration from 12-24 months, with apprentices learning fundamental techniques to fault, find, service and maintain medical equipment.
