Apprenticeship overview

What is the Apprenticeship Levy?

The government has committed to significantly increasing the spending on apprenticeships in England by 2019-2020.  A full review of the way apprenticeships are funded has recently been completed.  The apprenticeship levy requires employers with annual paybills in excess of £3 million to put aside 0.5% of their paybill to fund new apprenticeships.  Employers with annual paybills under £3 million are required to make a 10% contribution of the apprenticeship cost, which is agreed with the training provider.

Why an Apprenticeship?

Qualified, quality engineers are becoming increasingly difficult to source, why not ‘Grow Your Own’?  Large organisations such as Ford, Rolls Royce, and The Royal Airforce have been delivering Apprenticeship programmes for many years to develop and nurture talent as part of a succession planning strategy whilst building expertise.  Talented engineers are vital to the future success of medical and clinical engineering.  If you’re thinking about recruiting a Medical Engineer, there is no better way to get started than with an Apprenticeship.

Avensys are on the National Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers (RoATP), which means we are able to draw down funding directly from the Apprenticeship Levy, on behalf of our customers.

Avensys have been added to the National NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) framework.  The framework aims to provide employers with access to the wide range of Apprenticeship providers to meet the increasing demand for Apprenticeships and enable employers to purchase high quality Apprenticeship provision effectively utilising their levy!
