Fundamentals of Decontamination within a SSD environment
Learn how the process works within a SSD environment along with the underpinning knowledge of decontamination and sterilisation. This will enable the learner to be involved in the processes within a CSSD or involved with the decontamination of sterilisation of medical equipment.
Who Should Attend:
Anyone who is involved with the decontamination department from Managers to Operators. Suitable for dental practice staff involved with decontamination/Sterilisation, and laboratory staff involved with the decontamination/Sterilisation of equipment
Pre-requisites:
There are no academic pre-requisites for this course. The minimum age for entry onto the course is 16 years old.
Course Aim:
To provide learners with the underpinning knowledge of decontamination and sterilisation and the processes and procedures involved within an SSD environment.
Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of the course the learners will be able to:
- Explain the Basic regulatory framework for SSD’s roles & responsibilities of key personnel.
- Explain the role of Washer-Disinfectors and Sterilisers within the decontamination process.
- Describe microbiology terms and definitions most commonly referred to in decontamination.
- Describe and explain the basic properties of clean steam.
- Summarise the principles of operation of a Porous Load sterilizer and a Washer disinfector.
- Describe the requirements of periodic testing for Washer Disinfectors and Sterilisers.
Certification & Digital Credential
On successful completion of the course, learners will receive a City & Guilds certificate.
They will also receive a City & Guilds digital credential which proves that the learner attended and completed the course.
