Mathematics for Engineering Technicians
Delivered via e-learning – up to 6 months
Course Description:
This course reaches beyond the basic mathematics and aligns the mathematical principles with an engineering role.
Who Should Attend:
The course provides an excellent grounding for medical engineering staff involved with the servicing and maintenance of medical devices or medical engineering staff who want to undertake a higher level qualification and need to enhance mathematical knowledge.
Pre-requisites:
There are no pre-requisites for this course. However, it is preferable that the learner is employed within an engineering role in order to apply the principles learnt within the course on a day to day basis. Please note this is not essential.
Course Aim:
To provide learners with the essential mathematical knowledge in order to apply mathematical principles within their everyday engineering role. To prepare the learner with the essential mathematical knowledge for a higher education engineering programme.
Course Objectives:
On conclusion of the course learners will be able to:
- Be able to use the international system of units (SI) and convert between SI and Imperial measures.
- Be able to use algebraic methods.
- Be able to use trigonometric methods and standard formulae to determine area.
- Be able to use statistical methods to analyse and present data.
- Be able to use elementary calculus techniques.
Accreditation:
On successful completion of the course learners will gain an Open College Network West Midlands Level 2 award in Mathematics for Engineering Technicians.
Please note that this programme is delivered via e-learning on the Avensys Training Platform but in order to receive an accredited certificate, you must attend Avensys UK Training Ltd head office in Kidderminster to undertake an invigilated exam. Please contact the Avensys Training Academy for more information.
