Weekly testing of Large Porous Load Sterilisers
This course teaches learners how to perform daily and weekly tests on Large Porous Load Sterilisers. They will also learn the underpinning knowledge to enable them to carry out these tests and understand their importance and the theory behind them.
Who Should Attend:
Anyone who has involvement with the daily or weekly testing of Large Porous Load Sterilisers. Laboratory staff involved with the of laboratory Sterilisation instruments and the operation and use of daily and weekly testing.
Pre-requisites:
We advise that learners complete our Fundamentals of Decontamination within an SSD environment course prior to this course. The minimum age for entry onto the course is 16 years old.
Course Aim:
To teach learners to perform daily and weekly tests as set out in the Health Technical Memorandum 01-01/
Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of the course the learners will be able to:
- Explain the role of sterilisation within the decontamination process
- Explain the roles & responsibilities of key personnel
- Describe microbiology terms and definitions most commonly referred to in decontamination
- Identify risks associated with steam sterilisers and publications relevant to their ongoing safety
- Describe and explain the basic properties of steam
- Summarise the principles of operation of a Porous Load steriliser
- Understanding the equipment used to test a steriliser
Certification & Digital Credential
On successful completion of the course, learners will receive a City & Guilds certificate.
They will also receive a City & Guilds digital credential which proves that the learner attended and completed the course.
