This open day event will provide an insightful overview of “Medical Equipment Networking”, the current hot topic within the Healthcare industry.

Wireless technologies represent something of a revolution in the field, allowing patients more freedom as they are no longer tethered to devices by the previously necessary power and data transfer cables.

However, the wireless revolution has gone much further than the hospital bed and, in some cases, has left the hospital altogether. Remote wireless devices now enable the patient to be monitored from the comfort of their own home, with data being transferred from a wearable device to the user’s mobile phone, from which it is transferred to a medical facility and/ or a specific clinical professional who may in fact be on the move themselves. This is just one configuration of patient data collection which will become increasingly common. However, these technologies represent a merging of the traditional ‘IT’ and ‘EBME’ roles, raising the question of who is turned to when such a device malfunctions or fails to connect.

Avensys are hosting a one day seminar, free of charge (lunch included!), which will go back to some of the fundamentals of traditional networking to establish the terminology EBME managers should be familiar with including IP Routing, Extending the LAN-WiFi and IPV4/IPV6 Addresses – don’t worry, if that bit lost you, this day is for you. We will then take a look at the ‘Hospital in the Home’ and other considerations raised by these new technologies such as patient data protection and network security.
