Infusion Device Maintenance
This interactive, hands-on course is designed for engineers and technicians with a basic understanding of medical equipment who are involved in maintaining infusion devices. Learners will gain practical skills and essential knowledge to service syringe drivers and volumetric infusion pumps safely and effectively. Covering device principles, risk identification, infection control, medical electrical safety (BS EN IEC 62353), and MHRA-compliant performance verification, this course blends theory with real-world application to ensure participants gain valuable experience in servicing and testing infusion equipment to industry standards.
Who Should Attend:
Medical engineers and technicians with a basic knowledge of medical equipment involved in maintaining infusion equipment.
Pre-requisites:
Have prior experience and competence in electrical safety testing of medical devices.
The minimum age for entry onto the course is 18 years old.
Course Aim:
To equip learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely and effectively service and maintain infusion devices, including syringe drivers and volumetric infusion pumps. The course will cover device principles, associated risks, infection control, medical electrical safety (BS EN IEC 62353), and performance verification procedures in accordance with MHRA guidelines and industry standards.
Course Objectives:
On conclusion of the course the learners will be able to:

Explain the principles and types of infusion devices, including syringe drivers and volumetric infusion pumps. 
- 
Identify key risks and hazards associated with infusion devices, including electrical, mechanical, and functional failures.

Demonstrate an understanding of medical electrical safety and compliance with BS EN IEC 62353.

Describe and apply current infection control measures when handling infusion equipment 
- 
Perform alarm tests as part of performance verification procedures. 
- 
Carry out a full service procedure, including electrical safety testing of syringe drivers and volumetric pumps following MHRA guidelines and relevant industry standards.
