Real World Medical Engineering Courses Return to Kidderminster
Avensys has returned its medical engineering training provision to its Kidderminster headquarters, bringing biomedical engineering and decontamination training, including its Level 2 to Level 4 apprenticeship programmes, back under one roof with the rest of the business.
The move marks a shift back from Avensys’s previous training venue in Dudley, and strengthens the company’s ability to train the next generation of NHS and private sector clinical engineers in an location that simulates the real world environment.
Up-to-date biomedical engineering course content
Being based at Avensys HQ keeps course content aligned with live industry activity as trainers work alongside engineers delivering repair and maintenance contracts every day. This makes it easier to update courses as standards change, whether that’s evolving medical device regulations, or electrical safety testing requirements, and to introduce new topics as they become relevant.
A real engineering environment, not just a classroom
Learners based at Kidderminster train inside a working engineering environment rather than a standalone teaching site. Courses take place in Avensys’s mock hospital environment, including a simulated ward, operating theatre, and sterile services department, giving learners a hands-on, practical education in settings built to mirror real healthcare facilities.

Avensys’s apprenticeship programmes, ranging from Level 2 Healthcare Science Assistant through to Level 4 Healthcare Science Clinical Engineering, give learners a direct route into biomedical engineering and decontamination careers with NHS Trusts and private healthcare providers across the UK. Short courses, including Electrical Safety Testing, Human Factors, and Medical Equipment Maintenance & Fault Diagnosis, are also delivered from the Kidderminster site.
