Decontamination Science Pathway
Apprenticeship Aim
To provide learners with the underpinning knowledge and competence to work safely and effectively within a decontamination department. The course aims to equip the learner with the knowledge and skills required for routine maintenance and servicing tasks.
Apprenticeship Overview
- Five Mandatory Units covering Healthcare Science services, partnerships, personal development, working safely and managing human disease/disorder.
- Specialist Decontamination themes covering Health & Safety in the Healthcare Environment, Working in Healthcare Science, Disease & Infection, Cleaning, Decontamination & Waste Management, Decontamination and Infection Control, Infection control in Endoscopy.
- Development of a portfolio of evidence that includes workplace observations, witness testimony, professional discussion, case studies and assignments.
